Halifax Farmers Market

Everyone in this town loves the fact that once a week (be it early on a Saturday morning) they can go downtown and have the best that the maritimes has to offer, organic , hand made, sustainable, local, ethical, Halifax Farmers Market.
My visits usually consist of: heading straight for the waffles,
drooling over the Susie shortbread's,
people-watching in the grand square,
paying a visit to some of my favorite local artists and designers,
checking out the local produce,
listening to the nova-scotian music,
then stocking up on the good stuff..

A toy's story..

I sat on my bed last night, Hugging Ritchie, saying that I feel bad because in the last couple of months he's been getting gradually less and less hugs as I spend more and more nights with the boy. Today me and the boy went and saw Toy Story 3. As with most people our age, the original was one of the movies we grew up on, the first completely computer generated movie so not only did we love it for the characters and the story, we loved it for how it looked. Sometimes sequels aren't worth the paper that the ticket is printed on but this is not one of those. I cried like a baby, smiled and nodded at all of the things that I can see now are true and still hoped that toys really do have adventures when youturn your back. This is a photo series I did one day in winter with Ritchie, my dog who has travelled with me the world over since I was 18months old.

I also have another photo series which involves people and their toys which I will share later.

Wassup art?

I'm the first to admit that after finishing my BFA I've let myself somewhat out of the art loop. I dont go to gallery openings every week, dont participate in any artist groups etc but my one saving grace is keeping up to date on what exhibitions are on back home with the help of a subscription to art whats on. I get an email once a week and i can just scroll through and click on the ones that interest me. They have now even made the website so that you can save images directly from it, which I like doing and putting them in a big folder titled "Inspirational images" so that one day when I put my artist hat back on i'll have all the inspiration i need just sitting there. This week's one featured an exhibition called between worlds by Polloxeni Papetrou from the series games of consequence and the images make me smile.
